I'm trying to post more regularly, with the help of my friends and contributors suggesting more content. As I said before, it's hard to find content these days, but I did find something for some Mature Musings.

After the success of Regular Show, the creators worked on a show for more mature audiences called Close Enough. I can't say I've seen much of this show, but it certainly seems head and shoulders above the average Adult Cartoon. That is, it doesn't seem heavily to rely on vulgarity for the sake of its jokes.

But for the sake of this blog, one of the best gags was in the episode "Secret Horse". In that episode, a magic horse lost in a windstorm helps teach the cast to dream, including the main female protagonist Emily. She imagines herself on an Avatar-inspired adventure, before the jig is up and everyone reveals their own dreams because of the horse.

Amusingly enough, Emily is naked after her dream is up. And nothing is made of her as a sexual object. The nudity is obviously done for comedy purposes, and it's all very natural in execution. The awkwardness of the situation is played up more than anything else; put a male character in, and the joke works the same.

And that's my whole point. The joke works either way. We only think of the female body as "inherently sexual" because our society was built by men. But just as you can use male nudity in a manner that is clearly intended for sexual purposes, you can use female nudity for comedy purposes just as well. It's amusing, it's humorous, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
