Mature Musings #3

0644 6de6

It's time for us to remind people that naked ladies don't always have to be sexy, as we delve into some Mature Musings.
Family Guy is not a show I have a lot of love for. It's incredibly mean-spirited, unapologetic about that fact, and goes out of its way to make the worst kind of political jokes. That said, I am perfectly willing to give a pass to the early seasons of the show. Both of the episodes I saw from those seasons, "Road to Europe" and "From Method to Madness" are some of the funniest things I've ever seen. Keep in mind that the show was on its way to becoming the successor of The Simpsons, and it was facing a lot of competition, such as the down-to-earth King of the Hill, the crass South Park, and even Simpsons creator Matt Groening's satirical Futurama.
"Method" is one of those episodes that really gels. All the jokes are on point and hit their mark with perfect accuracy. I'm not even talking about the stuff with then nudist family, either; the main plot of Stewie becoming a broadway star has so many great moments, like a Broadway orchestra coming out of a school piano. It's definitely one of the high points of the series. Read More »

Remember when The Simpsons used to be one of the big boys? They were certainly known for their bravery early on in their life. Case in point, this picture. Now, normally it's hard to find good Marge stuff because a lot of it is just sexual, but this one stands out amidst the sea of fanservice, stuff even the show would later embrace as it became corrupted. Case in point, we have Marge recreating Birth of Venus, but it's not any sort of censored version; it goes all the way with its homage. Still, the picture remembers that Marge is but a housewife cartoon character, so her bust is modest, her anatomy simplified, and the oven mitt with food on it reminds us of her role in the family. Compared to any picture in the Playboy shoot, this is more daring and more dignified. Read More »

Ask ArcRoyale #2

Once again we're up to a Q/A session with someone who frequents the places I do. Now, while most of the questions are directed towards me, this one is directed against me, that is to say, it's more of a judgement than a true question.
Phrased as nicely as possible the question becomes: "Arc, how can I tell you're not really a pedophile? You voluntarily chose to commission these pictures, and have on at least one occasion referred to it as your fetish. So are you really as noble as you say you are?"
This is probably the most difficult question to answer, since no matter what I say, the answer's not gonna sound good. Thing is... it's complex, but yes, I do take time to... appreciate the works in this collection.
Now, that doesn't mean I automatically qualify as a pedophile. I take time to appreciate works of adult women as well. I usually don't find enjoyment in pictures of real children, but I find plenty of enjoyment in real life women. And I actually do find my own enjoyment in pictures of boys. Read More »

Another one of my favorite pictures right here, this girl is the definition of adorable. She comes from a series with a 14-year-old who often gets into compromising situations, and a 10-year-old who seems like a showoff for her age. She herself is a toddler, and, since even when the Japanese feel it's okay to sexualize children, she never gets sexualized in the least. Rather, the appeal of her is that of taking care of a little girl of your own, not so much a waifu as a little daughter for you. Basically, she's like the little sister I never had.

How Do We Do It? #3

This was around the time the last blog went kaput. Fortunately, we've been stable the whole time, thank goodness. It's time for us to take a look at how a show used its characters for nudity and ask How Do We Do It? to a girl.
Today we're covering Dexter's Laboratory, and since I already introduced it, we're only gonna be focusing on two characters, one who got nude, one who didn't.
The one who did is Dexter. Dexter's role was as the main character, a know-nothing know-it-all who had a mastery of the scientific world, but couldn't handle the day to day life of being a kid. He would do things like hit himself up with gamma radiation to become more able to eat vegetables, or invent a machine that would reverse one's actions. These always backfired in amusing ways; the gamma radiation turned him into a Hulk-like monster if he didn't get vegetables, and the reverse machine was hijacked by his sister and used to reverse everything he did. And sometimes his failures would often result, at the very end of the short, in him losing his clothes for humor's sake, like some kind of cherry on top of a sundae of suffering. Read More »

Sorry for not posting on time as often. I've been very sick these last few days. Often times, late at night, the only thing I wanna do is get some shut-eye and maybe sleep off the illness. Still, this blog is a daily thing... at least I don't have to do two pics a day anymore.
This one is just plain funny! It's a good use of shy embarrassment in a classic scenario. I love the use of the Rainbow Monkey as a cover, and the fact that the people involved are secret lovers who have crushes on each other. Well, while we're here, might as well make it official! Or do you want to play the waiting game some more, Wally? You know she's had enough of it.

Yes, It Can Be Done! #3

4400 3314

It's time to remind people once again that I'm not just a raving lunatic by giving the audience a reminder that Yes, It Can Be Done!
The second season of The Powerpuff Girls introduced some key concepts like Princess Morbucks, and fleshed out the characters a little more. It also was the season with one of the best episodes in the series, "Speed Demon." The Girls did get a little meaner, though, but that was rectified in later seasons.
A particular oddity are the two episodes that take place in the middle of Season 2, clustered together. Both are intended as PSA's for kids, done in the usual style of the show. "Beat Your Greens" taught kids to eat their vegetables... and did so by showing the Girls, and other kids in town, eating up an army of broccoli aliens, in a way that was charming, yet scary. The second, "Down N' Dirty", was all about taking baths, with the boyish Buttercup not wanting to take one herself. The stench becomes so much, not even the monsters she enjoys fighting want to do anything with her, so she is forced to take a bath to get them to do so again. Read More »

It's so hard to find good representations of lesbianism in animation. Stuff for kids avoids it since apparently two girls kissing because they love each other are equivalent to people having their guts bursting out of them in the eyes of the censors. Adult works usually just use it because it solves the problem of having an "ugly" guy getting in the way of the action.
Still, there are good ones out there, and one of my favorites is the Lyrical Nanoha series, with Nanoha and Fate falling in love and, as adults, even adopting a kid, Vivio. They're a really tightly-knit family, and they have a lot of cute moments, which fanart thankfully honors. This here is an example of such, alluring on the adults, but the kid keeps it cute and reminds us that this is just an ordinary family. Just be careful not to get soap in her eyes, girls! No Girls Allowed! #3

3541 1406

I've been wanting to share this moment from the begninning, but could never find a good chance to, since I didn't have the right edit for it. We do now, so here we are. It's time for another example the censorship board stepped in and said No Girls Allowed!
I already talked about The Simpsons in a prior episode or two, but this time we're talking about the comics based off the show. Now, the comics don't completely use the same staff as the show does, so there's bound to be some people involved who thing the comics should work differently from the show.
Case in point, one writer for the show may, in fact, have been an actual pedophile! His work involves Bart in a bunch of compromising positions, like in his underwear in public, or even a lot more nudity than usual. His major claim to fame is "Bart's Day at The Zoo," which sees Bart get trapped in a cage, slowly losing his clothes with every escape attempt, until he is left with nothing. And we see the stuff we usually see of Bart, namely his butt and stuff, while he's clearly embarrassed about the whole thing. Read More »

Here's a fun one, one of my particularly old ones. I'm sure by now you've seen these characters before on the blog. They're from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. The boy's Billy and he's an idiot. The girl's Mandy and she's cynical and evil. Together, they hold the leash to the Grim Reaper. It's kind of a gross-out show.
Case in point, this episode here, "Dumb Luck". The premise is that Billy spilled salt, and since he didn't throw it over his shoulder, he's got absolutely terrible luck. One of the things to cap of his humiliation is when someone pulls a thread on his outfit, and his clothes completely unstitch, leaving him naked in school before the next scene begins and he's fine.
For this one, I actually redid the story in a fanfic, "No Such Luck", found on my Inkbunny. The idea was to switch the situation to star Mandy instead, as a way of giving her what's coming to her. There's ultimately only one nude scene in the whole thing, and it pretty much amounts to this one here. The premise is, for a quick gag, Mandy gets unstitched like Billy did, and upon realizing it, flatly covers and says she doesn't care anymore before scuttling off. Just that single picture does the job. Read More »

With the week over at last, and with a lot more stability than last time, I leave you with these final thoughts.

With the week over at last, and with a lot more stability than last time, I leave you with these final thoughts.
First, on the announcement front, we're planning a themed week where we focus on a specific show and how it relates to a specific country's climate. The week will begin the week after I acquire the pic I need to illustrate my point: a specific No Girls Allowed entry involving something culturally specific... but not to our culture.
Now for the meat of things. This week was the week of the Oscars. Not too keen on all the politics, but that's the current era; we're already the Divided States of America, and part of me wonders if that was intentional.
Now, the Oscars are ostensibly supposed to promote excellence in filmmaking. They don't; this fact has been documented several times. So, because of that, I wanted to talk about a trend that's been bugging me, and yes, it involves the way female nudity is used. Read More »

Blast, I missed Sunday's post, so have to do it now.

Blast, I missed Sunday's post, so have to do it now.
Now, here's a fun little picture. Now, this is Seth MacFarlane, so his intent was definitely to gross the audience out by virtue of a nude man being the last thing his audience, which is presumably those 18 year old men, wants to see. However, pay attention to their poses. They're clearly being done in feminine manner. It's very clearly supposed to be a parody of female model poses, so to show what happens when a man does it. And hey, the women on this show don't look too good either; no one does!

Mature Musings #2

1022 59bb

Saturday is almost over, so let's get some coverage of mature ladies. It's time for some Mature Musings!
One of the last truly great episodes of The Simpsons was "Natural Born Kissers", the finale of Season 9, which many people will point to as the final great season of the show. That episode had three plots in all: a plot about Homer and Marge having difficulties in bed, a subplot to that with Bart and Lisa hunting for treasure, and that which calls us today, the ending of the episode featuring Homer and Marge having to run through town completely naked, trying to get home without being seen by anyone. They fail. In fact, they fail so spectacularly they become the front page article of the newspaper after landing in a football field on camera day.
The use of nudity in this episode was such that Marge wasn't really being sexualized. Most of the time she was but an equal partner to Homer in a shared compromising scenario. The nudity was used more like an obstacle, a problem to overcome. As such, while Marge is naked and shows her butt quite a few times, even if only for a second or two. Homer, of course, shows more than her, but most of that was because he was being used for physical comedy, especially during the balloon scene. Marge often shows just as much as homer does, save her bare breasts because that's too much to ask for. Read More »

Sorry for the lateness. I was busy reorganizing my folder. That meant it was kinda hard to find the pic for today. I have it now, though.
It's very hard to do a bath pic that's more artful than perverted, especially an anime one. This one seems to do the job, though. The angle is alluring in an artful way, and the pose and expression is nice and inviting. The steam keeps us from intruding on her privacy, but is in just a way to give us enough of a view to allow us to appreciate her. This one honestly feels more like a way of appreciating the female form than of simply ogling her.

ArcRoyale's Personal Stories #1

Today represents my 24th birthday. It's a day I share with my boss, Leonardo McDowell, better known as Darkton93. As such, I'd like to take a moment to talk about myself a bit, and how I got here.
When I was four years old, I grew up on Fox Kids, which included Power Rangers and the Spider-Man cartoon show. One villain I was enthralled with was Venom, but since all I saw of him was the intro, I assumed he was just a snarling monster. I got my first glimpse of the comic Spidey was based off when I got the issue that concluded the story with Carnage's introduction, and learned so much! Venom could talk! Venom had another like him! Venom and this other were humans wrapped in slime creatures!
And the humans inside? Weren't wearing anything underneath.
I was still fascinated by nudity just a little bit back then, though that did guide me quite a bit. I had a similar experience watching Dragon Ball Z as a kid, whenever Gohan would turn into a monkey monster, he would always turn back to normal naked. Something about that seemed to excite me just a little bit. Read More »

How Do We Do It? #2

Well, regardless of the current situation starting to change, we've still gotta ask the question of How Do We Do It?, and to do that we're gonna look at some people who got naked, and some who didn't.
Today's focus will be on something I wanted to do for a long time, but couldn't until just now: The Simpsons. Due to the nature of the show, there are a lot of characters who have differing reasons for their nudity, including some nameless ones. For this one, though, we're sticking to the Simpson Family, minus Maggie since she's a baby.
Homer was portrayed as something of an everyman in the early seasons. He was in over his head, with a job he hated, kids who didn't respect him, and a lazy approach to everything he did. When he did have nude scenes, they used to be about those factors, and always complimented the story. Losing his clothes in "Call of the Simpsons" tied into trying to teach Bart how to survive in the wild, doing so by instructing how to create their own covering. His first nude moment in "Homer Badman" tied into his sexual exploitation case and how people see what they want to see, while his second case showcased how he didn't even have any privacy in the shower. As the series went on, Homer became wackier and louder, and his nudity started becoming the joke in and of itself, as opposed to a segment of it. Read More »

I wanted to do something to celebrate our victory, but I couldn't find any PG art that fit the theme of our last show. Instead, I'll just post this picture here. It's still very cute, showing that even girls have trouble taking baths, especially when the person giving it to them washes their hair. The little one's expression makes it a real winner, showing her trying very hard not to start kicking and screaming. Hey, even 5-year-old geniuses act like 5-year-olds.
